Stay Bag Initiative Program

Russell Gobetz - Post 433 - 1/6/2022

On January 11th, in partnership with Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, Suffolk County Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services (FRES), Long Island Veterans Coalition for Suicide Prevention, and Operation VEST, Long Island Cares is proud to host an event to announce the County’s new Stay Bag Initiative.

This innovative program aims to help veterans and their families who may be suffering in silence by providing them with tools and confidential resources to recreate a positive memory, occurrence, or behavior.  This event will be the first of many, providing participants with an official STAY Bag, critical resources, access to mental health professionals, and the opportunity to begin creating their bag with items to be provided.
