TEACHER OF THE YEAR

 
 
Each year the VFW recognizes three exceptional teachers - one each from the elementary, junior high and high school levels - for their outstanding commitment to teach Americanism and instill patriotism in their students.
 

Without our nation’s veterans, America wouldn't be the great nation it is today. Our youth deserve to learn about our rich history, traditions and the role of our veterans in creating and shaping America.

Nominate them for the VFW Citizenship Education Teacher Award
Do you know a teacher who goes above and beyond to teach civic responsibility, American history, and patriotism? VFW Post 433 wants to honor them!

Anyone can nominate a teacher—fellow educators, principals, parents, students, or teachers themselves.

🏆 The Prizes
National winners in each category receive:
  • $1,000 for their own professional development
  • $1,000 cash award for their school
  • An all-expenses-paid trip to a VFW National event
  • Beautiful commemorative plaques for the teacher and school
 
🎓 Who is Eligible?
Certified or licensed K-12 classroom teachers who teach citizenship education topics for at least half of the school day. Awards are given in three categories:
  • Elementary School (Grades K-5)
  • Middle School (Grades 6-8)
  • High School (Grades 9-12)
 
📋 How to Nominate
  1. Complete the official entry form (available at the front office or by emailing us).
  2. Include a 1-page resume of the teacher's career.
  3. Include a summary (up to 5 pages) detailing their innovative teaching style, dedication to civic education, and passion for American history.
